Mathematics excellence

Diagnostic Assessment is used to identify our high performing Mathematics students and inform our decision making over class groups. Higher performing mathematics students are engaged with extension tasks and activities. Our top performing Year 9 students are invited into the program. Students within the program are accelerated through Years 9 and 10 with the aim to complete Year 10 mathematics by the start of second semester Year 10.

Students then commence Senior Mathematics B. In addition they have the choice to select Mathematics Extension. This is an elective subject and is aimed at preparing students for Senior Mathematics C studies. This course is open to all students.

During Year 11, students continue their studies in Mathematics B.

In Year 12, students have a choice in the first semester to elect to complete one university mathematics subject (University of Queensland and / or Griffith University) or they can move back into mainstream mathematics with the aim to improve their overall grade.
