Graduate Program
The Graduate Program is where students enrol for class and wish to complete Year 12 at school. Some students in this program may be attending HSP (High School Preparation) at Whites Hill State College. This is to ensure that their English is of a sufficient level prior to undertaking their studies in English at our school.
Students are able to join the Graduate Program from Year 7 onwards. Typically, they will stay in homestay accommodation during this time. Students take part in mainstream classes.
Study Abroad Program
This program is for students wishing to experience student life in Australia, improve English skills and make Australian friends. Typically, Study Abroad students stay in this program for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, often using their school vacation period in their home country.
Study Abroad students at Cavendish Road State High School are placed with mainstream students. We have had a large number of European students undertake this program.
Homestay is a very valuable and important part of this program, as it enables the student to experience not only life as a student, but as a valued member of an Aussie family.
Study Tours
Cavendish Road State High School also host a number of Study Tours for Education Queensland International. The Study Tour Program is a short term (1/2 day -10 weeks) program. The content of this program is usually negotiated between EQI (Education Queensland International) and the schools. Generally the programs run at Cavendish Road SHS are for two (2) weeks. Junten High (from Japan) have been coming for over 5 years to a specialist Science program.
Professional Visits
This is a program for international educators. The program length and content varies depending on the needs and requirements of the group. Educators will often observe classes and be involved in discussion groups. We have offered specialist programs including Football, Science, English, and Special Education.
