My time at Cav-Road has been the most amazing time of my life and I'm so grateful for being given the opportunity to go to an Australian high school. Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible!

Gabriel Lercher – Italy – Year 10 & 11 (2022 - 2023)

Cavendish High School provided an unforgettable exchange experience for me with a welcoming community, engaging curriculum, and exceptional support. I highly recommend Cavendish to prospective exchange students seeking a transformative educational opportunity.

Lise Sandvik – Norway – Year 11 & 12 (2022 – 2023)

My time being at Cavendish Road State High School is a new yet enjoyable experience. Since this is the very first school in which I was offered Australian education, it is impossible to make a comparison between Cav and other schools around the area. However, compared to the school I went to in Vietnam, Cav offered a more self-centred learning experience that focuses on student doing research by themselves, and the role of teachers is primarily a guide rather than the source of knowledge. This significantly improved my researching, summarising and linking skills, which are extremely important in science where all of its sub-topics are complexly correlated to each other. During the time here, I was also surprised by the friendliness of students and teachers alike. Without their help, my chances of adapting to the new environment and achieving quality results would have been very grim. Another aspect of Cav which I enjoy is how students' time are valued, allowing them to live a healthy, well-balanced life instead of just studying nonstop (like I once did). This allowed me to acquire new skills, seeing new things and making new friends, all of which was unlikely to happen before my coming here. I am sincerely grateful for being able to be part of this loving Cav community.

Dang Khuong (Dan) Tran (Vietnam, Yr 11 2018 – Yr 12 2019)

Before leaving Vietnam for my journey, I was excited and fearful at the same time. Leaving the warm embrace of my parents and embarking on this new adventure taught me how to be independent and helped me understand that I have the potential to make a difference in the community. Cav Road has become my second family. It is the place where I see myself transforming into a better person, one who lives her day with a sense of purpose, consideration, and gratitude. However, my life would have been very different without the momentous support of the people around me. They encourage me to challenge myself, instil in me a strong sense of belief, and inspire me to accomplish things that I never thought I was capable of. I remember all the times my life was miserable and how all the hugs from my teachers and friends meant the world to me. I remember all the opportunities that I was fortunate to have that expanded my experience and brought me out of my comfort zone. Now is the time that I have to embark on another journey; yet, the Cav Road community will forever live on in my memory.

Vivian Nguyen (Vietnam, Yr 7 2019 - Yr 10 2022)

I am honoured to study at Cavendish Road. Here I have made a lot of good friends and learned a lot. There are also some wonderful teachers. I think my experiences at Cav Rd have been amazing.

Lynton Yang (China, Yr 9 2019 - Yr 12 2022)

The past three years at Cav were one of the best periods in my life. Within these years, I became a more mature, independent, confident and knowledgeable person, who is willing to share my energy, motivation and love with those surrounding me. Additionally, as an international student, I have gradually become more integrated into the local culture and education structure. Without any doubt, what I have done and whom I have become today, have not been all my individual work. It's a patchwork quilt of those who have loved me, who told me I could do it when there was absolutely no proof of it, who always sincerely and patiently taught me, who showed me their empathy and kindness, and who told me the truth even when it was not easy to hear. I will never be able to find suitable words to express my gratitude to all of my teachers and friends, and thanks for my experience while studying at Cav. With all the knowledge and opportunity Cav provided, I am now on my own way towards the exciting future.

Zixuan (Susan) Yang (China, Yr 10 2020 - Yr 12 2022)

Cavendish Road is my Australian high school. Here I study a lot. I made many friends and they have helped me to integrate into local life better. I have also improved my language skills and learnt more about the local culture. I have very good memories at Cav!

Zoe Cai (China, Yr 10 2020 - Yr 12 2022)

I had a wonderful time here at Cav! I cannot be more grateful being able to spend my high school life in such an inclusive and friendly school. As an international student, I face the challenges in almost all aspects of my daily life due to language difficulties and culture differences. It is impossible to overcome these challenges on my own, and I sincerely appreciate the school's staff and students from the bottom of my heart. It's their love and passion formed the armour that protected me from discrimination. It's their help and advice that carried me across the barriers I encountered. It's their caring and support that has encouraged me to continue on my educational journey. Thank you to everyone who has helped me.

Yifeng (Leo) Dong (China, Yr 7 2017 - Yr 12 2022)

I never knew I would come to Australia to finish my secondary education. Before coming, Australia to me, was just a land in the middle of the ocean where kangaroos hopped in red deserts and koalas in eucalyptus trees, but there was much more than that. The decision to come was very spontaneous and I never knew I would have such a great time in Australia. It was very hard to leave South Africa and I often reminisce; however, I grew to love Australia over time. Choosing to come to Cavendish Road State High School was one of the best decisions I made; it consists of friendly students, inspirational teachers and programs that allow you to excel in what you are passionate in. The morning of my first day at Cav I was a little nervous that students might exclude me because of my race or make fun of my accent, but none of that happened. Coming to Cav allowed me to be myself. It is a community that takes in all people and embraces diversity. I never felt like I needed to pretend to be someone else in my time at Cav. Cav is more than a community, but a family that supports you to be your best self.
