Cavendish Road State High School has a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for students in Years 10–12.

The related links include the BYOD Charter which sets out the responsibilities of students and parents in the BYOD program.

Bring Your Own Device - BYOD is being offered at Cavendish Road State High School as a learning tool to support the delivery of 21st century learning. It is a term used to describe a personally owned laptop or tablet that meets Cavendish Road State High School's minimum specifications and can be connected to the Department of Education information and communication network for learning.

Device Selection and Specifications - Cavendish Road State High has specifications for BYOD devices that are consistent with meeting curriculum needs for students of the school. Before acquiring a device to use at school the parent or caregiver and student should carefully read the following minimum specifications:

Windows: i5 processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, school day battery-life;

Apple: MacBook Air 13-inch, Apple M1 Chip, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD.

These specifications relate to the suitability of the device to enable class activities, meeting student needs and promoting safe and secure access to the department's network. Laptops must meet specific requirements to be approved to connect to the school network.

The school has links with two retailers as an option for parents purchasing a Bring Your Own (BYOD) device. The use of these retailers is not mandatory and they are provided as a convenience for parents. A significant advantage of these retailers is the provision of a cost-effective Accidental Damage Protection (ADP). The school highly recommends the purchase of the ADP. Due to government regulations ADP is offered four days after purchase. Please note i5 is recommended as minimum specification for Years 10 - 12.

The retailers are:

JB HiFI (Apple Mac & Microsoft Surface Pro)
HP (Windows devices)

To select Apple Mac and Microsoft Surface Pro devices, visit the JB HiFi portal. Please download and read the Information Pack (PDF, 1.3MB)

 HP provide next day on-site support for hardware faults and ADP claims.
