English is central to the learning and development of all students. Here at Cavendish Road SHS, English strives to engage students both imaginatively and critically with literature.
Years 7-10
Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 study the Australian Curriculum which is organised into three interrelated strands; Language; Literature; and Literacy. The three strands form an integrating framework, focussing on developing students' knowledge, understanding and skills in listening, reading, viewing, speaking and writing.
Year 10 Short Course in Literacy- Semester 2
The Short Course in Literacy offers the opportunity, for selected Year 10 students to engage with Year 10 English at the required Australian Curriculum standard. However, they will have the additional value of being able to meet the requirements of the Short Course in Literacy which, if completed successfully, has the benefit of; 1. Meeting the literacy requirements for QCE and, 2. Contributing 1 point towards their QCE.
Year 11 and 12
The Year 11 and 12 curriculum studies offers both General and Applied subjects.
